Offense

Play A Misdirection

Fake Left,
Hand Right

QB fakes the handoff to the left RB, then hands off to the right RB. WRs run clearing routes to pull defenders wide.

LOS FAKE WR C WR QB RB RB
Coach Tip: QB must sell the fake left—extend the ball toward the left RB with eyes and hips committed before pulling back to hand right. WRs clear out the corners.
Play B Mirror Misdirection

Fake Right,
Hand Left

Mirror of Play A. QB fakes to the right RB, then hands off to the left RB. WRs clear out the edges.

LOS FAKE WR C WR QB RB RB
Coach Tip: Run Play A first to set up Play B. When the defense bites on the right fake, the left RB has a clear lane. QB sells the fake right with full extension.
Stack Formation

Stack
Formation

Four WRs line up to the left of Center on the line of scrimmage. At the snap, each receiver runs a different route—Go, Post, In, Slant—flooding the left side and stretching the defense vertically and horizontally.

LOS STACK GO POST SLANT IN C QB 1 2 3 4
Coach Tip: All four WRs line up left of Center on the line. Space them evenly so routes don't tangle. Read outside-in: the Go clears deep, the Post attacks the seam. WR4's shallow Slant and WR3's In route create a crossing concept—the In passes underneath the Slant at the intersection point. The QB reads the spacing: if the defender follows the Slant, hit the In underneath, and vice versa.
Jet Motion Play

Jet
'Name'

Three WRs line up left of Center on the line. A fourth WR stacks behind the innermost receiver, then goes in jet motion toward the QB for a handoff.

LOS 1 2 3 C QB 4 JET MOTION
Coach Tip: Call the player's name—"Jet Marcus!" WR4 starts stacked behind the innermost receiver and begins motion before the snap. Time it so WR4 is at full speed when reaching the QB for the handoff. The 3 lined-up WRs sell the fake with go routes and seal blocks.
Slant Quick Pass

Slant
Route

Four WRs on the ball—outside receivers run go routes to stretch the field while inside receivers run crossing slants through the middle.

LOS CROSS WR WR C WR WR QB
Coach Tip: Outside WRs run hard go routes to clear the sidelines and stretch defenders vertically. Inside WRs cross in the middle—left inside goes under, right inside goes over. QB reads which slant has separation at the crossing point and delivers a quick pass. Timing is everything—inside WRs must stagger their release so they don't collide at the cross.
Fake Double Misdirection

Fake
Pass

QB fakes handoff to both RBs from the run formation. After the double fake, QB looks to pass. First read is Attics on the right sideline go route (10-12 yards deep, staying far outside). RB Left runs a drag, RB Right and Center run curls.

LOS ① ATTICS CURL FAKE FAKE DRAG CURL WR C WR RB RB QB
Coach Tip: Sell both fakes. QB must extend the ball to each RB with conviction. Attics has to stay far outside, hugging the right sideline to sneak behind the defense. After the fakes, RB Left drags across to the left flat, RB Right and Center curl back toward the QB as checkdowns.
Pitch Quick Run

Pitch
Right / Left

QB takes the snap and immediately pitches to the RB. The RB gets outside the defense and turns upfield along the sideline. Can be called Pitch Right or Pitch Left. Center runs a curl route.

LOS PITCH SIDELINE CURL SEAL WR WR C WR RB QB
Coach Tip: Quick pitch, no hesitation. RB must get outside before turning upfield. WR on the play side seals inside to create the lane. Left side WRs clear out deep. Center curls back as a safety valve.

🛡 Defense

3-3 Base Zone Defense

3-3 Base
Zone

All six defenders play zone. Three DL cover short zones near the line, three DBs cover deep thirds. Defend the run first, then drop into zone on pass plays. Guard any receiver entering your area.

LOS DEEP LEFT DEEP MID DEEP RIGHT SHORT LEFT SHORT MID SHORT RIGHT C QB WR WR WR WR DL DL DL DB DB DB
Coach Tip: Defend the RUN first. DL own the short zones near the line. DBs own the deep thirds. Once you confirm it's a pass, drop back and guard any receiver entering your zone. Don't chase receivers out of your area.
3-3 Fire Blitz Defense

3-3 Fire
Blitz

Same 3-3 formation, but the middle DB blitzes the QB. DL still cover short zones. Outside DBs widen to cover halves instead of thirds.

LOS DEEP LEFT DEEP RIGHT SHORT LEFT SHORT MID SHORT RIGHT C QB WR WR WR WR BLITZ! DL DL DL DB DB DB
Coach Tip: Use Fire when you want to pressure the QB. Middle DB fires straight at the QB. DL stay in their short zones. Outside DBs must cover more ground (halves instead of thirds). Best on obvious passing downs or when you need a big stop.
2-4 Prevent Cover 4 Zone

2-4
Prevent

Two DL cover short zones. Four DBs play Cover 4, each owning a quarter of the deep field. Use when protecting a lead or defending long passes.

LOS ¼ LEFT ¼ MID-L ¼ MID-R ¼ RIGHT SHORT LEFT SHORT RIGHT C QB WR WR WR WR DL DL DB DB DB DB
Coach Tip: Use 2-4 Prevent when protecting a lead or on long-yardage downs. Four DBs each own a quarter of the deep field. Nothing gets behind you. DL cover the short zones and defend the run. Let them catch short stuff underneath if needed.
2-2 Stagger Zone / Blitz Option

2-2
Stagger

Single high safety plays deep zone. Optional blitzer behind the stagger. Four DL in a zigzag formation play overlapping zones that drop to mesh. Run-first, zone coverage on pass.

LOS DEEP ZONE MESH C QB WR WR WR WR BLITZ? DL DL DL DL DB S
Coach Tip: The zigzag stagger creates overlapping zones that are hard to throw into. Defend the run first. On pass, drop into your zone and mesh with the player next to you. The blitzer has the option to rush the QB or fall back into coverage. Safety stays deep — nothing gets over your head.
